February Spotlight Restaurant: 5th and Wine

This Old Town Scottsdale favorite is home to many delicious and healthy food options. Executive Chef Mike Bouwens and GM Scott Yanni strive to serve simple, accessible food that is healthy and tasty.

"Five of our healthier menu items on the menu are the seared Ahi Sunonomo, the hummus plate, the Chopped Veggie, Turkey Salad and Strawberry gorgonzola salad. The Ahi is a four ounce piece of sushi grade Ahi tuna seared in Togarashi (Japanese assorted chilies) served with a cucumber salad which is tossed in mirin, rice wine vinegar, and lemon juice. ($12.95) The hummus plate is made with house made hummus, roasted tomatoes, cucumber and crème fraiche tzatziki.  ($9.95) The veggie salad contains an assortment of veggies served in a herb vinaigrette. ($7.96 /$7.50) The strawberry gorgonzola salad is served with mixed greens, sliced strawberries and gorgonzola cheese. It’s topped with candied pecans and balsamic vinaigrette dressing," according to Bouwens.

Our philosophy at 5^th and wine is to accommodate any guests' dietary restrictions. We have a number of different items on our menu for those who are choosing to eat healthier.  We try to replace salt as a flavoring by adding an acid such as vinegar to accomplish the same taste profile without adding salt. As a society, the trend is to eat healthier and we are just trying to keep up with the trend.
